1.4 Definitions:
1.4.1 Earth’s Axis
Is the shortest diameter about which it rotates in space.
1.4.2 North and South Poles
1.4.3 The great circle:
1.4.4 Small circle:
1.4.5 East and west:
1.4.6 The equator:
Is the great circle midway between the poles. Its plane is perpendicular to the earth’s axis and divides the earth into North hemisphere and South hemisphere.
1.4.7 Meridians:
1.5. Earth coordinates:
1.5.1 Latitude:
expressed in degrees, minutes and seconds from 0° to 90°.
1.5.2 Longitude:
The longitude of a place is the angular distance expressed in degrees, minutes and seconds between its meridian and the prime meridian from 0° to 180° east or west of Greenwich.
